Making Two AMS Platforms Work Together with Data Sangria

Using more than one membership platform can make sense when each system serves a different purpose.

For the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), ACGI serves as the core AMS while Glue Up supports chapter management. Instead of forcing one platform to handle every function, CFMA is using Data Sangria to connect the two through a two-way integration.

The goal is to keep important member data moving between both systems while maintaining clear rules about which platform owns each type of information.

Sending New Members from ACGI to Glue Up

ACGI will remain the source system for new-member creation.

On an hourly or daily schedule, Data Sangria will send new member records from ACGI to Glue Up. The integration will also use membership data from ACGI to assign each person to the correct chapter or chapters in Glue Up.

If a member does not have a chapter assignment, the integration will place that person in Glue Up’s non-affiliated group.

This creates a consistent path for member and chapter data without requiring staff to maintain the same information separately in both platforms.

Moving Important Data Back to ACGI

The connection does not stop once member data reaches Glue Up.

Data Sangria will also move information in the opposite direction. Profile updates and CPE credit activity from Glue Up will sync back to ACGI.

That two-way flow allows both platforms to support different parts of CFMA’s operations while still sharing the data needed to keep records current.

Defining the System of Record

Two-way integrations need clear ownership rules.

For this project, ACGI will remain the system of record for all CPE data. Glue Up can send CPE credit activity back to ACGI, but ACGI remains the authoritative source for that information.

That distinction helps prevent conflicting updates between the two platforms.

Instead of treating every system as equal for every field, Data Sangria follows defined business rules for how information should move and where the final record should live.

Building Logic Around Real Membership Workflows

The integration includes more than a basic connection between two APIs.

AMS Geek will build the logic needed to sync new members, chapter assignments, profile updates, and CPE credit data. The project also includes API testing and configuration inside Data Sangria. Each workflow follows its own rules.

New members move from ACGI to Glue Up. Chapter assignments follow the membership information stored in ACGI. Profile changes and CPE activity move back from Glue Up. Meanwhile, ACGI continues to control the final CPE record.

Those rules allow the two AMS platforms to work together without blurring their individual roles.

When Integration Makes Multiple Systems Practical

Organizations do not always need to choose a single system for every business process.

Sometimes the better approach is to use specialized platforms where they provide the most value and create a strong integration between them.

For CFMA, Data Sangria will connect ACGI and Glue Up so membership, chapter, profile, and CPE information can move between the systems automatically.

The goal is not to make the two platforms behave like one system. It is to make sure they can work together as part of one connected technology environment.
