Bringing Cvent Registration Data Back to the AMS

Event registration data can tell an organization a lot about how members are engaging. However, that information becomes less useful when it stays inside the event platform.
The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) uses YourMembership as its association management system and Cvent for event management. As part of a broader connection between the two platforms, NCPG will use Data Sangria to move important registration and profile information from Cvent back into YourMembership.
The result is a more connected flow of event data back to the system where NCPG manages its member records.
Connecting Cvent Back to YourMembership
Data Sangria will provide a one-way integration from Cvent to YourMembership.
After reviewing NCPG’s requirements and field mappings, the integration will transfer agreed-upon member and registration information from Cvent into the AMS.
This creates a direct path for event information to return to YourMembership instead of remaining separate in Cvent.
As a result, staff can keep more of the member’s activity connected to the record they already use.
Updating Existing Member Profiles
Event registration often produces new or updated information about a member.
Instead of leaving those changes inside Cvent, the integration can use that data to update corresponding member profiles in YourMembership.
That helps NCPG keep information collected during registration connected with its existing member data.
It also reduces the need for staff to compare the two platforms and manually transfer updates after an event.
Handling New Registrants Without Creating Duplicates
Not every person who registers for an event will already have a matching profile in YourMembership.
For those cases, the integration can add new registrant or member profiles. However, it will also include duplicate checking as part of that process.
That step is important because creating a connection between systems should not come at the expense of data quality.
By checking for an existing record before creating a new one, the integration can help keep the AMS cleaner while still capturing new contacts from Cvent.
Adding Registration Activity to the Member Record
The connection will also bring registration data from Cvent into YourMembership.
That gives NCPG another way to connect event participation with the broader member record.
Instead of viewing event registration as activity that exists only in Cvent, the organization can bring that information back into its membership system.
Over time, those connections can help create a more complete picture of how individuals engage with the organization.
Building the Integration Around NCPG’s Data
A useful integration depends on more than simply connecting two APIs.
NCPG and AMS Geek will define the standard and custom fields needed for the data transfer through a field-mapping process. AMS Geek will then build and test the required integration functions before configuring the connection in Data Sangria.
This gives the integration clear rules for what information should move between the systems and where it belongs.
Turning Event Data Into Connected Data
Associations often rely on specialized event platforms because they provide tools designed specifically for registration and event management.
The challenge is making sure the information collected there does not become disconnected from the organization’s other systems.
For NCPG, Data Sangria will create that connection between Cvent and YourMembership. Profile updates, new registrants, and event registration information can flow back into the AMS instead of remaining isolated in the event platform.
The goal is simple: make sure valuable event data continues to be useful after registration is complete.
